Free Ringtones: the Basics of Ringtone

Vikram Kumar asked:

Today mobile phones are not just used for calling or sending text messages. The rapid rate at which they are evolving technologically, is making cellular phones a complete entertainment package. The constantly evolving features not only make calling and messaging easy, but make owning a cell phone fun too. There can be games, WAP, extras, profiles and lots more. What most people find even more fun, is to have new ringtones, and to be able to continuously update these ringtones.

The ringtone is actually a misnomer because it is not tones. It is simply ring sounds that alert the mobile phone user when there is an incoming call or text message. This is a term used for mobile phones with customizable sound. Owners of mobile phones can change different types of ringtones and different sounds whenever they desire. The reason for ringtones is to simply add that extra bit of fun, and make it appealing to the ear. And since customizing ringtones is one of the good features in mobile phones, people can collect ringtones from different sources.

One can get a new ringtone through registering their mobile phone to their network so that regular ringtones can be sent to the user. The user can then change their ringtone as preferred. However, some networks require regular fees for this. As a result, people prefer to download and get free ringtones from the Internet.

There are many sites that provide ringtones for mobile phones. Some sites provide them for free. Free ringtones can simply be downloaded. You just have to choose what type of free ringtones you would like to download. They could be:

Monophonic. This type of ringtone uses a series of notes for a particular tune. The music is based on a ‘do-re-mi’ series of notes and no other. It has one musical note at one time. Polyphonic. This type of ringtone has many musical notes at one time. To create this type of ringtone, a sequenced recording method was used. Truetone. This is the most advanced ringtone available. It is also known as real tones, superphonic ringtone, mastertone or audio recording. It sounds like an audio recording. It typically follows the format of Mp3 or AAC. Usually, they are excerpts of the songs.

Among the three types of ringtones, the most popular and appealing is the truetone. This type can also be offered as free ringtones by sites.

There are many sites that offer free ringtones. One of these is Top Twenty Tones. Here you view a variety of free ringtones. They are listed in different categories, and all you have to do is choose which among the many free ringtones list suits your taste.

Fun in Ringtones

Typically, people download and update free ringtones to beautify and make their mobile phones appealing. Some would even go to the extent of paying for ringtones, knowing how much fun can be brought about by the new ringtone trends. For some, it can be a form of lifestyle. More sophisticated mobile phones are owned by sophisticated people and it goes to say that their ringtones are also truetones with the latest music in it.

Overall, ringtones are features in almost all mobile phones. They can be in the form of either monophonic, polyphonic or truetones. Each type of format determines the types of mobile phone a person owns. Usually, the more sophisticated the phone, the more appealing the ringtone. To get the latest ringtones, a person can simply download free ringtones from the Internet.

New Technology Brings New Ringtones

Daniel Millions asked:

Over the past few years, technology has evolved significantly and because of the development in technology, a lot of things have changed. Earlier, cell phones used to be bulky and now, cell phones of negligible weights are available in the market. Now, cell phones have a number of features and high-quality camera, music player, radio, GPS system are some of the common features.

The technology for ringtones has also evolved greatly over the past few years and as a result, different types have been developed. The different types distinguish each other on the basis of the number of musical notes played at a time and the quality of the ringtone. New cell phones support all the types of the ringtones whereas old cell phones support one or two types of ringtones. Also, an individual cannot play a one which is not compatible with the cell phone and so, an individual should carefully check the supported types of ringtones while purchasing a cell phone.

Monophonic: Monophonic are the ringtones which play only one musical note at any given time. They were introduced before polyphonic and truetone ringtones and they represent the first generation of ringtones. Truetone ringtones are used to play complete songs whenever someone calls the cell phone subscriber whereas monophonic ringtones are used to play tone based versions of songs.

It is possible to personalize and modify monophonic tones in such a way that a particular ringtone is played for a particular caller. You can use this feature to set specifictone for specific users. As an example, you may use a happy monophonic tone for your best friend or a romantic tone for your life partner. You need to change the tone settings of the cell phone in order to use this feature.

Polyphonic: Polyphonic are the ringtones which play more than one musical note at any given time. Polyphonic ringtones were the first to follow the monophonic ringtones and they are more complex than monophonic ringtones as more musical notes are played at the same time. They are used for creating complex sounds as they give close approximation of harmony and instrumental melody. Polyphonic ringtones are more popular than monophonic ringtones as they sound more like the songs they are mimicking.

Also, the polyphonic tones are available in different styles and heavy metal, pop, country music are some of the popular styles. Most of the new cell phones support polyphonic tones and this is the reason why a number of polyphonic ringtones are easily available. It is possible to use some song writer to create new songs which can be used as polyphonic ringtones. It is also possible to add some variations to the songs and the ringtones so as to generate new tones.

Truetone: Truetone represents the latest evolution of ringtones and they have become very popular among cell phone users. A truetone is also known as a mastertone or a realtone. A truetone is an audio recording in a common format such as AAC, MP3, or WMA. Usually, truetone ringtones are created for using popular songs as ringtones.

A number of truetone tones are easily available and they are used by cell phone users to express themselves. New cell phones allow users to set different MP3 ringtones for different people. Truetone ringtones have replaced polyphonic tones to large extent as truetone tones are of better quality and are available at affordable prices.

Make Your Cell Phone One of a Kind With Ringtones as Wild, Crazy, and Unique as Your Friends!

Groshan Fabiola asked:

Your cell phone is practically as much a part of you as the ears on either side of your head, but you hear “Greensleeves” so many times each day you’re about ready to clobber anyone who brings up Henry VIII in your presence. You answer your phone so automatically that you don’t bother to stop and look and see who’s calling—and you wanted to avoid answering any calls from your mother today, lest you have to explain why “studying” involves loud music and the buzzing of numerous conversations in the background.

How do you add a little pep to the traditional music or—shudder—just ringing ringtones that plague your cell phone all day? How can you just hear a ringtone and know instinctively who’s calling, without even taking your cell phone out of your pocket? By matching your friends with their animalistic or naturalistic properties with Wildlife Ringtones, Animal Ringtones, Hunting Ringtones, and Nature Ringtones!

Who’s the zany one in your family and circle of friends? We all know one or two! Then how about some  Frog ringtones? Who’s the lone wolf of the pack? Maybe he or she would best be represented by some Wolf howling Ringtones! Anyone whose name is Donald or Howard just has to get one of those Duck Ringtones—the joke is too priceless!

Have a certified “cat lady” among your circle? Browse through Animal Ringtones until you find the mewing kitty that best represents her. (Don’t forget, you’re bound to find some hissing or snarling cats among those Animal Ringtones!) Know a man who’s a real horse person?  Pick out a horse  snorting or whinnying among those Animal Ringtones—the specific horse noise you choose depends on whether or not he’s a little bit of a complainer at times himself!

If there’s a man or woman among your friends or family who may as well wear hunting camouflage full-time, you just have to select one of many available Hunting Ringtones! The Elk Ringtones, Duck Ringtones, Bird Ringtones, Goose Ringtones, Wild Turkey Ringtones, Wolf Ringtones, and other Wildlife Ringtones available in the Hunting Ringtones category make the perfect match for your hunter!

What about the fiery types who embody the volatile force of thunder and storms? Or the laid-back sort whose idea of a perfect day is tanning on the beach, listening to the gentle rhythm of the waves? Or how about someone who’s as temperamental as nature itself—someone who’s both passionate and calm? That person’s best suited for the sound of nature like a thunder clap or mudpots boiling! It’s powerful and dynamic but soothing as well. (Just don’t let him or her in on the joke or you’ll see that fiery side!) There’s a set of Nature Ringtones for every kind of person!

Don’t forget to browse through Animal Wallpapers, Bird Wallpapers, Wildlife Wallpapers, and Nature Wallpapers for Cell Phones, too! Use Nature Wallpapers for Cell Phones to mix and match a nature and animal theme for each of your friends and family members’ profiles.

Maybe it’s as obvious as searching through the Animal Wallpapers for a duck wallpaper to match your friends who’ll have Duck Ringtones. Or you could mix Wildlife Ringtones like a lion’s roar with Animal Wallpapers the likes of a tiny kitten. Maybe their bark is scarier than their bite!

Thanks to fun and inexpensive Wildlife Ringtones, Animal Ringtones, Hunting Ringtones, and Nature Ringtones along with Animal Wallpapers, Wildlife Wallpapers, Bird Wallpapers, and Nature Wallpapers for Cell Phones, you’re never going to get tired of hearing your cell phone ring—or regret answering it!
