Did the Government Make Mobile Networks Nasty?
If you glance our minds back a few years, you will remember that networks used to be really nice, they used to go out of their way to help you out and keep your custom, the steps were that you simply dialled a freephone number and then was put through to an operator in an instant.
But over the last few years things seemed to have changed much more. Mobile telecoms providers switched all of their numbers to premium rates and got rid of a huge volume of staff.
The vast amount of networks have deployed this simply because of a £22 billion tax charge that was handed out by the government in 2000.The tax was actually meant to make the companies pay back their national debt, but it just was not happening. As you are probably well aware we are in the midst of a huge credit crisis, which has been caused by the country squandering cash like it is endless.
From another point of view, we cannot solely blame this on the government, as the network suppliers are partially to blame aswell, most of them are now charging a small fortune to make a call. If you are also on a contract basis you will note that most firms have become so overwhelmed that they are beginning to overcharge people on their monthly bills.
This is once again a problem that simply cannot be solved with ease as the person who has the contract then has to call the premium rate number, which then makes the person hold the line for hours, as there is no staff. And then the next month because of that call they get hit with an even higher bill.
